We decided to watch The Curse of the Weeping Woman on a Friday morning. An early show at 9.30 AM for 110 bucks. Woke up at 8. Rushed out of college at 9.27 AM. Reached at 9.40 AM. Didn’t miss much. Watching a horror movie in a hall had always been on my bucket list for long now. The Curse of the Weeping Woman or The Curse of La Llorona began rather slow.

The usual family, a woman and her two children. It was about folklore where a Mexican woman drowned her children because she saw her husband cheating on her. This woman went around the world looking for a set of siblings to drown(in search of her two sons).

There is nothing much about the plot that fancied me.

There were about 3 times that I jumped up from my chair.
Along with horror, there was a character/exorcists which were added to put in some humor, Rafael Olvera. He managed to keep the movie running on his shoulders with his sarcasm.

All in all The Curse of the Weeping Woman is an okayish movie and could be watched when released online.

In comparison to our Indian Ghosts, La Llorna failed to impress in any way except for the humor. There was a lot of background score and a lot of dragging in the movie. Unnecessary doors and windows would throw open.
And then there was, of course, a dumb child who wanted her doll back from outside the house.

Here is a list of 5 movies that you can watch instead

1. Raaz (2002)

Raaz 2002

Raaz starring Bipasha and Dino Morea, with amazing soundtracks and a great story ♥️. For all you 90s kids out there I am sure your parents had the T-series cassettes of this movie!

Help is a Bobby Deol and ever stunning Mugdha Godse starrer. It is the Hindi remake of The Unborn. The movie revolves around the life of a couple and an evil soul not letting them bear a child.

3. The Unborn (2009)

The Unborn 2009

This Hollywood movie took my breath away(quiet literally). It is about an evil twin who has cursed it’s future generations. The movie is about a young girl and her lover and best friend trying to get rid of Jumby. And by far Jumby is my personal favorite ghost!

4. The Invitation (2015)

The Invitation 2015

A lot of blood but a good thriller/horror. This movie is about a secret cult and it’s followers. The movie begins at eeriely. A couple returns from a secret crusade and invites all their friends and close ones for dinner. What happened next proves to be the most dreadful night for the survivors.

5. The Exorcist(1973)

The excorcist 1973

I added this movie as a joke. It is kind of hilarious! Isn’t it? And I think it should be left where it belongs to, the 70s.

DO NOT WATCH THIS MOVIE UNLESS YOU WANT TO LAUGH YOUR BUM OFF.

For others: tell everyone to watch The Curse of The Weeping Woman, because if you wasted 100 bucks, then why shouldn’t they.
