RCB Drops Chris Gayle, Says Skipper Virat Kohli. Now, it seems to be an end of the road for the explosive West Indies batsman Chris Gayle. Enough with hype and speculation now the message is clear; either perform or perish. Gayle manages a meager 8 runs in 3 matches that he played at the ongoing IPL 9 tournament so far. He had to go to Jamaica during the birth of his first child last month but interestingly ever since his return to India on April 25, he hasn’t been given too many chances. Instead, Travis Head has been given a chance and he grabbed the opportunity with both hands with impressive shots.

Virat Kohli has recently clarified that Gayle is not injured but has been dropped from the squad. Undoubtedly, RCB opener and wicket keeper batsman KL Rahul is playing consistently well with scores like 51, 51*, 52 and 38 in his last 4 T20 outings. Kohli explained that Travis Head not only bats well in the middle but is a good off-spin option too for the team if needed.

Virat Kohli, meanwhile continues to retain his orange cap with 561 runs in 8 matches. His colleague Ab De Villiers is also adorning the list with 385 runs in 9 innings. Opener KL Rahul is hitting good knocks constantly. Obviously, when the top batsmen getting runs for the team then Gayle will also have to prove his worth at the earliest whenever he gets a chance or his outings at this year’s IPL 2016 might be over. Kohli won’t take any chance with big names and low scores.

IPL is in its exciting phase now. Even a single defeat of a team could lead to an ouster from the tournament. There is some stiff competition in the points table between Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bangalore. Both teams are eyeing 4th spot. With every match becoming do or die now, batsmen need to be more sincere and dedicated with their shot selection and innings in the upcoming matches.
