Men vs Women, Women Are Finally Getting Ahead, What’s wrong with the men?

Sourced From: cms.qz.com

That’s what it all comes down to. The status quo is finally changing. The times of men being pitted against women in a men vs women world has finally come to an end it seems. Women are creating and cultivating their own niche to develop and sore in, while the men seem to still be thinking about men vs women.Women are finally getting ahead. Women are conquering new peaks. Quite literally. Junko Tabei on Everest, Valentina Tereshkova in space, Sally Ride on the moon, Katherine Graham as a CEO and Katheryn Bigelow who won an Oscar for a film!

And still, all of it this wonderful upheaval comes down to how it affects men. That’s the bane of the society we live in.

Why Is The Effect Of Woman Empowerment On Men Even a Topic Of Conversation?

Men have ruled this world for far too longer than we should care to admit. Carefully building a men vs women dynamic while telling women they aren’t or cant be as smart, strong or successful as them. After all, if it takes a woman fifty years to be allowed to do something that men have been doing for all that time, it is truly the perseverance of the woman in question that should be commended. Not the men who felt it was their right to disallow them in the first place.

For years on end, we as a species have put down our own kind. Women have been subjugated for far too long. Now that they are finally going places, scaling new heights and achieving the same successes that men have been for eons, sadly it is the men who seem to be more affected with this.

Look up the news today. There is sadly, no change in how men behave. Men are still stuck in that same old space. There are quite a few “good ones” out there who do try and make a difference but it is the rather loud ignorant ones that create the issues for women in these cases.

Most women, just like all of us, want to live a decent, peaceful life. Women are born with the same set of rights as men. Yet, somehow they don’t seem to be accepted into these rights and seen to better serve in only a fraction of that role.

Why Are Men So Adamant On Maintaining The Men Vs Women Dynamic?

Why Do They Work So Hard To Strip Women Of Their Rights?

What exactly are men afraid of?
How can we as men change this?
How can women make this entire thing differ?
Do we start treating our kids differently?
Do we raise them differently?

Men are raised in a patriarchal society where their ideas of equality are different than most. Their idea of equality comes off as a challenge to their position of privilege. This fear is either consciously driven. Or sometimes just manifests in the form of active or passive resistance to the very idea of uplifting women as equals.

Sadly, the examples of a few overzealous women trying to better their own individual causes are shown as a case example by men as ‘this is what is wrong with female empowerment’. And it doesn’t end there. Men actively continue to find ways to stop women from progressing. Threatened by the fact that women who they have grown up seeing as nothing more than cooks and maids and caretakers are taking over their worlds and giving them orders.

That is what gets their goat.

Women giving them orders. Not because they are inherently better. But, because they are now capable of holding positions of power.

Oh, Men! What To Do With Thou?

It is the 21st century. Today, the toxic mentality is no longer acceptable. Making women think they are dumb just so you feel better about your own intellect is no longer in. Raising your voice to gain an upper hand against the valid arguments of a woman is no longer in. Ridiculing women in positions of power to take away their powers or call in to question their authority is out the window.

Do better today. Start today. Women deserve better. And truthfully? So do we.

Never forget that change takes time. It is upon us to lead by example and educate the younger generations. Then and only then can we truly hope to achieve gender equality. Let us start at out own homes, schools and temples and eventually we can hope to change the society as a whole.
