Population control needed urgently, its now or never
A lot of thought and discussion has been conducted lately about birth and population control. Recently, the Union Minister, Giriraj Singh was quoted talking about this very issue. In a much discussed move, he asked people to make the Population Control Law Campaign a movement. He asked them to take the campaign to every house and make it a widespread movement from road to the Parliament.
He shared a screenshot image on twitter, showing a live population count. He commented that the increasing population is a ‘hurdle’ in the development of India and the harmony of the society. It has been noted that he even supported Baba Ramdev’s earlier suggestions to control the population of our nation. Readers will remember, Ramdev had suggested that third child of a family should be without voting rights and government facilities. According to him, this should be a law, to contain population growth.
Statements similar to this have been made by a number of people. This has increased the rage amongst posts and comments, regarding population control.
The population on the Earth is now a minute to an hour
When biologists study bacterial growth, a standard experiment is done to understand. A single bacterium is kept in an empty beaker, and the formation of new bacterium is noted. It is found that a standard beaker is filled in exactly an hour. Yet, the beaker is only half filled, a minute before. The phrase, ‘a minute till an hour’ is now synonymous with a number about to reach maximum possible capacity.
While biologists were only drawing attention to bacterium, the population on the Earth is now a minute to an hour. The population spurt is huge.
In India, the hour is over and done with, and the second hour has begun. Population control is needed desperately as we see an average of more than 47 people per square kilometer. According to international bodies, a healthy amount is less than 49 per square kilometers.
Time to conduct mass population control
Seeing the population as it is now, with a low standard of living, rampant disguised and dynamic unemployment and such few prospects in the fields everyone wants, we see the need to conduct mass population control. A policy like China’s former One-Child Policy (1979-2015) needs to be enforced, with certain relaxations and re-evaluations. Ideas like that of Giriraj Singh need to be given more weight, to ensure that the population doesn’t hit the second hour and cause the huge pitfall in development.
To ensure that drastic steps are not needed, the people of our nation need to step up. They need to make the words of Giriraj Singh, Baba Ramdev and other visionaries take hold, so that proper measures may be taken. The live population count of our nation has been seen to be 340 million people, and that is just conjecture based on imprecise statistical calculation. The population may well be above 370 million.
This figure strikes fear in the minds of anyone who understands the consequences of the number. It is a call on the population. Make those still living in a world where birth control is wrong, to understand the dire situation India finds itself in. Turn off the water before it reaches above our heads and pull out the head from the lion’s mouth. Do not let the sword hanging above our heads fall, lest we be driven to shortages, riots and anarchy.
It is a bright mind that would pay heed to these words and bring a change. Let us not be the ones who turned a blind eye and let the nation fall into a pit, the infinite abyss.
