Ghantewala Sweet Shop Drags SRK’s Fan to Court

Shahrukh Khan’s recently released film Fan has now landed into a deep trouble. The film deliberately used a scene where the superstar’s Delhi-based fan Gaurav was shown picking a box of sweets from the Delhi’s iconic ‘Ghantewala’ sweet shop, which happens to be one of the oldest running sweet shops in the country. The shop carries its rich legacy of 225 years since its establishment in 1790 during Mughal era.

But the owner of the shop, Sushant Jain, alleged that the use of the name ‘Ghantewala Sweets’, was portrayed in the film Fan without seeking his permission in this regard leading to infringement of trademark.

A legal notice has been slapped upon Shahrukh Khan (Lead Actor), Aditya Chopra (Producer), Yashraj Films, Habib Faisal (Writer) and Maneesh Sharma (Director) respectively by the petitioner. The owner has demanded immediate removal of dialogues and scenes relating to shop.
