The Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO), the nation’s premier space agency, sets a world record by simultaneously launching 20 satellites into the open space from Satish Dhawan Space Centre at Sriharikota in Andhra Pradesh a couple of hours back.
Elated Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi tweeted about the same;

It took around 26 minutes for the satellites to reach in to their respective orbits. Out of 20 satellites, around 17 of them belonged to overseas countries such as Canada, Germany, Indonesia and the US while 3 satellites were Indian including the Cartosat-2 series.
According to AS Kiran Kumar, ISRO Chairman, the operation was successful and ISRO’s PSLV C-34 (the satellite launching vehicle) has done its job. This time ISRO breaks its previous record of placing 10 satellites in orbit in 2008.
Until now, India has launched 57 foreign satellites successfully in to the space. This year, we aim to place at least 25 satellites in open space. Russia holds world record for placing maximum satellites in a single year, It placed whopping 37 satellites in 2014.
