Nana Patekar: Bollywood’s Unsung Real Life Hero
Veteran actor Nana Patekar perfectly epitomizes the saying, “practice what you preach”. Many of his high-voltage melodramas based on social themes gave him the recognition for which he is popular across the country. But he is keeping his fight against social injustice and poverty alive in real life too.
Humanity is paramount for Nana Patekar. How can we forget his timely assistance to the families of poor farmers in Maharashtra early this year? Also his Marathi film Natasamrat released a few months back was all about the social problems that Indian farmers are facing today. It drew the attention of world media towards parched Maharashtra.
A Man With A Golden Heart
From inside he is a simple man with high thoughts and golden heart with a relentless pursuit of doing something for the betterment of the society. Most of his films are based on corruption and other social malaise that has engulfed the nation.
In fact, ever since he made his debut in Bollywood, he never thought of turning the same into a money making activity, rather Nana always considered acting as an art which needs to be manifested via films or theater.

Though, we don’t see that flamboyant Nana Patekar in Bollywood films as much frequently as we used to a few decades back, but Nana Patekar is certainly utilizing all his energy and zeal towards social work. He has transformed several small dry lakes in Maharashtra into watery ones through his NGO, Naam Foundation – founded in 2015 – with the help of Marathi actor Makarand Anaspure.
The foundation is working non-stop for the overall betterment of farmers and poor people in Maharashtra. For me Nana Patekar is a real life superstar who is constantly making India proud with his exemplary altruistic works on the ground.
