Indian contingents for the Rio Olympics 2016 are reaching the Brazil’s historic Rio de Janeiro city to put up a stiff fight for the great Olympic gold quest.
Quadrennial sporting event will continue from 5th August to 28th August.

For the first time ever, more than 100 Indians athletes will participate at the Olympics event. India have been trying to improve its medal tally at Olympics for the last few tournaments, winning (maximum) 6 medals at London Olympics last time.
India’s Medal Hope for Rio Olympics 2016
Saina Nehwal & Kidambi Srikanth: India’s aim to win medals at Badminton largely depends upon the performance of these two finest players. As of now, Saina Nehwal is India’s biggest hope. The top seeded player will have to beat famous opponents like China’s Li Xuerui and Spain’s Carolina Marin before India can dream of winning a medal at this sport. On the other hand, Kidambi Srikanth is India’s only male Baminton player at this sporting event. But he has to defeat both Lino Munoz and Hurskainen to keep India’s hope alive. Promising pair Jwala Gutta and Ashwini Ponappa will lead India’s women’s doubles category.
Narsingh Yadav: With champion athlete Narsingh Yadav’s entry into Olympic stage, India can keep its bet medal at wrestling category alive. Yogeshwar Dutt will also fight for 65-kg category. A total of 8 wrestlers including men and women will represent India at wrestling for different categories.
Jitu Rai: After winning Gold at 2014 Glasgow Commonwealth Games, India’s hope for a medal from this ace shooter (currently ranked 2) has only increased manifold. Also, Olympic medalists Abhinav Bindra and Gagan Narang will be there at the event representing different categories.
Deepika Kumari: The 22-year-old Deepika Kumari is having a good chance to win Olympic medal for the nation in archery at individual level. Former world number 1 has recently stated that winning an Olympic medal is her biggest aim.
Boxing: In the absence of Mary Kom and Vijender Singh, India’s boxing campaign will be in the hands of Manoj Kumar, Vikas Krishan and Shiva Thapa across three different categories. Though medal hope is very little, but nothing is impossible for Indian boxers. They know how to snatch victories amidst all impossibilities.
Tennis: Star Tennis players from India will participate at Rio Olympics. Veteran Leander Paes will team up with Rohan Bopanna for Men’s doubles category, while Sania Mirza would team up with the young Prarthana Thombare for Women’s double category. In Mixed doubles category, Sania Mirza will join Bopanna at the event.
Hockey: Indian men’s hockey team has been playing consistently good for the last few years together. India’s men Hockey team will be led by flamboyant Sardar Singh and we can certainly expect a medal from him.
